RedTribe aims to empower marginalised Maasai women in the remote Loita Hills.
In 2010 RedTribe beadwork began with one widow and a few beads.
It now employs between 20 and 40 women enabling them to provide for
more than 400 members of their immediate community between them.
RedTribe has built a designated workshop, store and kitchen.
With the profits from the beadwork sales,
RedTribe has provided the funds to train 9 teachers for the Maasai Academy
and subsidised the school to enable children from poorer families to attend.
The beadwork has also provided funds to send 14 children through secondary school,
11 of whom were girls, and 1 girl through vocational training.
RedTribe has helped to empower 3 community members in
advocating against FGM and early marriage.
